Students, faculty, and staff must use their U-Cards to check out library materials. Community residents may obtain a Briggs Library community card by completing a registration form at the circulation desk.

Materials are checked out at the circulation desk on the main floor of the library. At this service point, materials can also be renewed and returned.

The easy to use touchscreen steps users through scanning documents, photos, or books with the option to email, save to USB or print the scans.

Some collections or materials have different loan periods. 

Use our Microform Reader to view materials on microfiche and microfilm.

Renewal Request Form

Community borrowers should use this form to request the renewal of materials checked out from Briggs Library.

All library users who are affiliated with the University of Minnesota and are issued U-Cards may renew their library materials by logging onto My Library Account. Community borrowers may renew by contacting the library.

Flat bed scanners are available for use.

Community patrons are welcome to visit and utilize our library and its services. We welcome all levels of involvement from infrequent visits for locating specific data to regular borrowing for recreational reading, from gathering local historical background from our archives and West Central Minnesota Historical Research Center to arranging for an information session for your organization’s program. We invite students from area schools to use our resources for assignments and projects. The Rodney A Briggs Library Associates, our library friends’ group, offers ongoing participation opportunities.
