Solvi Wagstrom is the winner of a Briggs Library Associates Art Award from the 2022 Senior Art Show for her piece Musophobia. The artist is majoring in Studio Art as well as Communication, Media & Rhetoric major with a Spanish minor.

The humorous piece depicts a cat deathly afraid of a mouse and draws inspiration from her roommate's frisky black kitten. The artist created the intaglio etching print from a metal plate exposed to acid.

"Musophobia was the product of my efforts to improve my animal drawing skills," Wagstrom explained. "The black-and-white Yin-Yang composition of the piece, with the detailed cat and simple mouse, complements the predator-prey relationship of the two animals."

The artist plans to return to Saint Paul after graduation so she can earn some money and continue to make art.
